The Street That Wasn't There

aka The Lost Street

Co-Author: Carl Jacobi

Story, first published: Comet Stories, July 1941

In this fantasy, a recluse philosophy professor wakes up to see signs that the world is losing its population through war and plague. He had once speculated that all that holds the world together is the power of the human mind and that some stronger intelligence from another dimension could reach out and steal our universe out from under us. The story has a Weird Tales ending - a gray fog obscures the world outside and a colossal face of immense power and evil is swallowing up our living space.
